SECRETARIAL SERVICES

Our offices offer Company Secretarial Services on an Ad Hoc basis. We currently are preforming such service for Road Agency Limpopo and have in the past have served as Company Secretary to Gateway Airport Authority Limited



LAND TRANSACTIONS AND LAND AUDIT

Verveen Attorneys have extensive knowledge in the Land transactions to the extent that we are currently assisting a Municipality in an eviction and illegal land use matter in the High Court as well as other issues involving property rights. 


Verveen Attorneys further assisted various Municipalities with land audits and registration of properties that were found to be owned by the Municipality but not registered in its name. Verveen Attorneys has successfully transferred over 400 properties from the Waterberg District Municipality to various other local Municipalities in a space of ± 6 weeks, which mandate was transferred to us after another company had failed to effect the said transfer and managed to obtain title deeds for the transferred property shortly after the transfer.

analysis of all the company's current policies, practice and procedures to identify possible problem areas in the light of current legislation, drafting of employment contracts etc;


4. GRIEVANCE AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION

designing an internal Grievance and Dispute Resolution system to deal with employment equity and discrimination related disputes or adapting existing grievance and dispute resolution processes; 


4.1 Management of bid disputes:

Through is expertise in the operation of Local Government, we have expert knowledge in interpretation and application of Municipal procurement policies and procedures. We further have been previously mandated by various Municipalities and Local Government departments to provide legal opinions and institute investigation and disciplinary hearings in respect of acts of misconduct relating to the contravention of supply chain management, procurement policies and procedures, which mandate was successfully completed. We will therefore be able to provide the Municipality with opinions relating to the Interpretation of the MFMA Treasury Regulations and relevant case law relating to supply chain management and procurement procedures.


5. ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

advice on implementation of a wide range of initiatives which include diversity training; reasonable accommodation of the needs of the disabled employees and other designated groups; employment development and other best employment practices;


6. PLANNING

assisting internal parties in the production and submission of an employment equity plan;


7. STRATEGIC REVIEW AND REVISION

diagnostic intervention to assist clients in evaluating existing employment equity initiatives, and in revising strategy and process;


8. REPORTING

assistance with reports to the Department of Labour on progress made by the company in implementing its employment equity plan;


9. FACILITATION

implementing the consultation process as an independent third party, assisting in resolving disputes between parties internally;


10. MEDIATION ARBITRATION AND INTERVENTION PROCESSES

Internal Mediation and Arbitrating of disputes between parties. Intervening and assisting parties to resolve disputes of mutual interest. Facilitating and drafting of collective agreements between parties.


11. LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT LAW AND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS TRANING

Designing, Developing and Presenting Training on various aspects of Labour and Employment Law as well as specific Industrial Relations topics in line with relevant legislation and best practice.


12. INVESTIGATIONS AND PROSECUTION

Investigation into allegations, complying of an Investigation Report and Recommendations, as well as complying of charges and attending to the prosecution of the dispute(s) between parties internally or in the various legal forums.


13. TRAINING OF STAFF

We provide training in respect of Employment Equity, Skills Development and on how to conduct disciplinary hearings to client and their employees. In line with this we unitize the recent changes to labour law using law as well as the clients on policies and procedures in order to demonstrate and teach the client to benefit themselves.


CIVIL LITIGATION AND DEBT COLLECTION

DEBT COLLECTION AND CIVIL LITIGATION

We have extensive experience in the field of debt collecting and civil litigation in both the Magistrates and High Courts.


Our Debt collection process has two stages. The first stage is the Pre-legal stage wherein the Debtors are traced where necessary, they are further telephonically contacted, sms’s are sent to them as well as reminders are put out all in an effort to amicably make the necessary arrangements for them to settle their debts.

Should the above stage be unsuccessful we have the necessary measures in place to carry out the legal Stage. This stage will commence with a formal letter of demand and where necessary the issuing of summonses from thereon we will request judgment against the Debtors and proceed with execution of the judgment. We are further experienced in carrying out of financial inquiries before Court as well as obtaining emolument attachment orders where necessary. 

Once we have obtained an emolument attachment order we then will monitor the monthly payments made by the Debtor and we will account to you on a monthly basis in respect of each Debtor. Kindly take note that all monies paid to Verveen Attorneys in respect of outstanding debts will be paid into our Trust Account and will therefore be secure at all times.

LITIGATION: COURT PROCESS’S:
We have on various occasions successfully represented Municipalities and government entities in Civil and Labour Law related litigations. Through its wide knowledge in different areas of the law Verveen Attorneys will be able to assist our clients with the following services: 

- Drafting of legal documents such as summons, pleadings and relevant notices involved in the institution and defending of a legal matter;

By providing Legal Advice and opinions, we keep our clients updated on the latest amendments and case law relating to the above mentioned legislation which will assist the client in complying with the relevant laws. Our services to the client will also include analysing of current policies, practice, procedures and regulations to ensure that the Municipality is compliant with all relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.


 Drafting of legal opinions, by laws and policies:

We have previously and currently successfully assisted various Municipalities with up to date legal advice and legal opinions in line with current legislation and judicial decisions, thus enabling the client to make informed decisions, thereby avoiding and curtailing the risk involved in unnecessary litigation. Preparation and negotiation of contracts:

Due to its experience in various fields of law, we have previously assisted various corporate clients and Municipalities in the preparation and negotiation of various contracts which include, but are not limited to, employment contracts, sale of property contracts, trust documents, joint venture agreements, agency agreements, shareholder agreements and lease agreements.


General advice and assistance with regard to Public Administration and Local Government:
